OREGON FISHING SEASONS

SPRING FISHING

Spring Chinook Salmon

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

We have two salmon seasons in Oregon, the spring run, and the fall run. The Spring Salmon run begins in April on the rivers of the Oregon coast. I will fish here until the fish begin to migrate upstream, usually the beginning of May, then I will follow them to their tributaries. I will fish for spring Salmon here through June. Peak time for spring Salmon is April-Mid June. Spring Salmon average 15-25 pounds.

SUMMER FISHING

Summer Steelhead

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

Steelhead are available most of the year in Oregon, we have two distinct runs of steelhead and they each have their peak season. Summer Steelhead begin entering the river systems in April and fishing for them is very good through July. Summer steelhead are very aggressive biters and I fish all different methods for them, including Fly Fishing, Spinner Fishing and Bouncing Bait. Summer Steelhead average 8-12 pounds and are great fighters.

Smallmouth Bass

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

Smallmouth bass trips take place on the Umpqua River near Roseburg, Oregon. This is a catching trip, not a fishing trip. An average day Smallmouth fishing will be 50-100 fish per rod! They can be caught on just about all methods including flies, plastic worms and plugs. This is a great trip for everyone who just wants to catch a lot of fish on a beautiful river. The best fishing is during the hot part of the summer. July and August are best, by this time the water has warmed into the high 70’s and these fish are very aggressive. This is a great trip for youngsters or people who have not fished a lot, as well as hard core anglers. The average size Smallmouth on the Umpqua is 10 inches but most days will see a few fish in the 16-20 inch range brought to the boat.

FALL FISHING

Coho Silver Salmon

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

Silver Salmon or Coho Salmon – fishing for either can be really exhilarating - just hang on and reel! Silvers, some in excess of 20 pounds enter the river on their annual migration which can number in the hundreds of thousands. These hard fighting acrobatic fish make for great table fare, averaging 10 to 12 pounds. During our Fall Silver Salmon Season, that can last right on through the the end of December, it is not at all uncommon to catch fish in the high teens to mid twenties on a daily basis.

Fall Chinook Salmon

I fish the Fall run in the tidal portion of the Siuslaw River, near the coastal town of Florence and on the Umpqua River near Reedsport. These fish are still in tidewater and are as fresh as they will ever be. This fishery holds up through September thru October being peak times.
