Coos Bay Fishing Guide

Coos Bay fishing is a great way to spend a day on the Coos River, or the Pacific Ocean. Coos Bay fishing options include Coho Salmon (Silver Salmon) and Chinook Salmon (King Salmon). Coos Bay is a great place to live, work and play surrounded by a beautiful protected bay, lush emerald forests and the mighty Pacific Ocean. Historically known as Marshfield, Coos Bay celebrates a history in shipbuilding and lumber products while serving as the regional hub for Oregon's south coast. Coos Bay proudly stands today as the largest city on the Oregon coast, with a population of 16,615, and is the medical, education, retail, and professional center for the south coast region.

COOS BAY AREA FISHING

Coho Silver Salmon

Coho Silver Salmon

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

Silver Salmon or Coho Salmon – fishing for either can be really exhilarating - just hang on and reel! Silvers, some in excess of 20 pounds enter the river on their annual migration which can number in the hundreds of thousands. These hard fighting acrobatic fish make for great table fare, averaging 10 to 12 pounds. During our Fall Silver Salmon Season, that can last right on through the the end of December, it is not at all uncommon to catch fish in the high teens to mid twenties on a daily basis.

Fall Chinook Salmon

Fall Chinook Salmon

$150/Half Day, $200/Full Day

We have two salmon seasons in Oregon, the spring run, and the fall run. The Fall Salmon run begins in Mid August but is very reliable in September and October. I fish the Fall run in the tidal portion of the Siuslaw River, near the coastal town of Florence and on the Umpqua River near Reedsport. These fish are still in tidewater and are as fresh as they will ever be. This fishery holds up through September thru October being peak times.
